Begin your adventure with an early morning departure from Kampala, heading southwest towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive takes approximately 8 hours, with scenic views of Uganda’s rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and small towns. Along the way, you will make a stop at the Equator, where you can take memorable photos and learn about this geographical landmark.

Continue to Bwindi, arriving in the late afternoon or early evening. Check into your lodge and prepare for the exciting gorilla trekking experience the next day.

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority guides. You will be assigned a gorilla group to track and briefed on the guidelines for trekking. With the Great Expeditions team leading the way, embark on a thrilling trek through the dense forest in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek can be physically demanding, but the reward is an incredible encounter with these majestic creatures.

Once you find the gorilla family, you will have one hour to observe and photograph them as they go about their daily lives. This close-up encounter is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Return to your lodge in the afternoon for relaxation and reflection on the day’s adventure.

After breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala. If you wish, you can extend your stay or explore more of Uganda. If not, say your goodbyes to this beautiful country as you head back to the city, arriving in the late afternoon.
