Itinerary

Early in the morning, depart from Kampala and head east to Jinja, the adventure capital of Uganda. Begin your day with a visit to the Source of the Nile, where the river flows from Lake Victoria. Take a scenic boat ride to the exact spot where the river starts its journey to the Mediterranean Sea.

Next, visit the Ssezibwa Falls, a cultural and natural site known for its beautiful waterfalls and rich folklore. The falls are surrounded by lush greenery and are considered sacred by the local Baganda people.

Return to Kampala in the evening for an overnight stay.

Accommodation: Serena Hotel / Cassia Lodge
Meal Plan: Dinner.

After an early breakfast, embark on a drive to Murchison Falls National Park, the largest national park in Uganda. On arrival, check into your lodge and take in the breathtaking landscapes, which are bisected by the Nile River. The park is divided into two sections: the Victoria Nile to the south and the Albert Nile to the north. Along the way, you will pass the kob breeding grounds, where you can observe herds of Uganda kobs, as well as prides of lions, elephants, and buffaloes.

In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive through the delta circuit, known for its high concentration of wildlife. Be on the lookout for Jackson’s hartebeest, oribi, giraffes, hippos, and elephants. Birdwatchers will be delighted with sightings of the rare shoebill stork, Abyssinian ground hornbill, and Denham’s bustard.

Return to your lodge in the evening.

Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge / Murchison River Lodge
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

After breakfast, begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to almost half of the world’s mountain gorillas. This scenic drive will take you through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, offering views of rolling hills, tea plantations, and local villages.

Arrive at your lodge near Bwindi in the afternoon and relax as you prepare for the adventure ahead.

Accommodation: Buhoma Lodge / Mahogany Springs
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.

Wake up early and head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking. You will be assigned a specific gorilla family to track. With your guides and trackers, venture into the dense forest to begin your trek in search of the mighty mountain gorillas. The trek can last from a few hours to a full day depending on the location of the gorillas, but the experience is worth the effort.

Once you encounter the gorillas, you’ll have the incredible opportunity to spend an hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Marvel at their behavior, family structure, and interactions within the group. Remember, no flash photography is allowed to avoid disturbing them.

After your trek, return to your lodge for an evening of relaxation and reflection on the day’s extraordinary adventure.

Accommodation: Same as previous night.
Meal Plan: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, and Dinner.

After an early breakfast, set out to explore the Batwa Trail, a unique cultural experience that offers insight into the ancient ways of the Batwa people, one of the oldest tribes in Uganda. Learn about their traditional lifestyle, hunting techniques, and interaction with the forest before conservation efforts moved them out of Bwindi.

Following the cultural tour, begin your journey back to Kampala, arriving in the late afternoon.

Meal Plan: Breakfast and Lunch.
